How To: Half Double Crochet (In-between the Posts)

Well friends, I think we can say that for us Midwesterner's we only had about three weeks of Fall and now we're in the dead set of Winter. BUT, have no fear! I'm here to show you a thermal-like crochet stitch that can keep you super warm all Winter long.

In this "how to" you'll learn how to crochet the Half Double Crochet (In-between the Posts); Which can help you with the Estelle Infinity Scarf pattern (just released to my Etsy shop, you can find the pattern here!) Or, just how to simply learn a new crochet stitch/technique to a classic crochet stitch.

If you're ready, let's get started!

Step 1: You are going to want to select your ch amount + 3. For this example I chained 16 (13 + 3).

Step 2: Ch 2, hdc into the third ch from your hook, then continue to hdc in each stitch across. Turn your work.

Step 3: Ch 2, continue as if you're going to make a typical hdc, however place your first hdc in the space in-between the previous rows hdc stitches. Turn your work. (See below on where to place your first for this row.)

Step 4: Ch 2, hdc into each space in-between the previous rows hdc stitches. Continue this until you reach your desired length.

This moderation to a simple crochet stitch is super easy but gives tons of lovely texture behind it.

If you'd like work this texture stitch into a pattern, you can do so by checking out the Estelle Infinity Scarf pattern up in the shop!
